TOPIC: I strongly believe that in the grand scheme of things, social media is ruining how people communicate and our time on it should be cut down. RESTRICTION: The biggest issue is how easy accessible it is to use it and get lost in it. ILLUSTRATION: For example, As social media’s popularity increases each day, a psychologist and journalist Maria Konnikova expresses her opinion on the topic through her article, “The Limits of Friendship”. Konnikova goes through her article talking about the dunbar number and how it applies to humans. She also talks about how social media harms humans in the social aspect of life. ANALYSIS: Konnikovas response to this issue is very straight forward and on point and that’s why I agree with her most. When we get so sucked into social media we lose the ability to socialize in person and enjoy true experiences. CONCLUSION: Although both readings and my experiences are very different, they all connect and show how deeply social media can affect us individually and as a society.
