Outcome #1 Revison

Outcome #1 Revison

Outcome 1 (Recursive Process)

Demonstrate the ability to approach writing as a recursive process that requires substantial revision of drafts for content, organization, and clarity (global revision), as well as editing and proofreading (local revision).

Before College, my revision process in highschool looked way different without a question. I didn’t take nearly as much time as I did revising and didn’t pay attention to little details as I do now. At first, I wouldn’t think twice about changing a simple sentence because I was comfortable with it. But now I analyze my sentences more and even just adding or taking away a couple of words helps with my writing process. Before college I always tried to make my essays and writings sound so proper, but now I’m able to express my voice more and give a personality to  my writing. By doing this, I’m able to write with more flow and more efficiently.

BEFORE

AFTER

Above are two photos of the before and after of the same introduction paragraph from my second essay. The first image shows the before where I had no real backup to my first sentence. After our revision process, I added a couple sentences from my personal college experiences which allows the reader to get a simple idea/understanding of my point. Without the revision process I wouldn’t have thought twice about adding extra details to my intro paragraph which would make my essays seem dry and sound too proper. Adding this to my introduction allows me to not only share my personal experiences and opinions, but also set up the rest of my essay for success.
